If you are an employee in a business, institution, or school district, you will probably need to contact your IT department for your SMTP server settings.

- User Name: the user name you use to log into your email server.
- Password: the password you use to log into your email server.
- Outgoing mail server: also known as your "SMTP server," this is the address of your server on your network or the internet (for example: "mail.mycompany.com" or "smtp.myschooldistrict.org").
- Authentication Method: how your outgoing mail server allows you to log in. We currently support the following authentication methods: CRAM MD5, AUTH LOGIN, AUTH PLAIN, and NTLM. AUTH LOGIN is the most common; however, if you are unsure of your authentication method, select "Auto Detect" and the DT Trainer will try to learn your authenticationmethod. For more information on this setting, click here.
- Connection Type: whether your outgoing mail server uses an encrypted connection to send emails, and if so, the type of encryption. We currently support the following connection types: Plain Text; SSL, TLS, or DTLS; and STARTTLS. If you are unsure of your connection type, select "Auto Upgrade to STARTTLS" and the DT Trainer will try to learn your connection type.
- Port Number: the port your outgoing mail server uses to communicate. This is typically 25, 465, or 587. For more information on this setting, click here.
- SSL Protocol: the version of SSL or TLS your outgoing mail server uses for encryption.
